French Prix Goncourt laureate Maurice Bedel wrote in the 1920s and 30s of the appeal and threat of fascism, and the people seduced by it in Italy and Germany. Parts of his book Fascisme An VII appeared in English translation in the November 1929 Atlantic as “A Frenchman Looks at Fascism“.
