An impressive body of work

Four writers get credit on the 1930 copyright registration for “Body and Soul”: composer Johnny Green, and lyricists Robert Sour, Edward Heyman, and Frank Eyton. But many more artists shaped the perennial jazz standard we know today. Among its more than 1700 recorded interpretations and variations are covers by Coleman Hawkins, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse. The song surrenders itself to the public domain in 10 days.
