Any law, whether well-intended or not and whether well-written or not, can and often do have significant and detrimental consequences unless they are well thought-out and carefully considered. Unfortunately, too often, bills are proposed and passed to address a particular point without the understanding of actual or potential consequences. I greatly appreciate and concur with your concluding paragraph.

Thank you for protesting! They just want to make us blind as much as they can. So we cant read and learn for free. Im very thankful for your site. when my son was doing his term paper on the technical aspects of the internal combustion engine the only book we could find was a e-book from our local public library.

Thank you for posting this meaningful and personal story that so clearly describes some of the issues involving orphan works. Well done! And a firm pat on the back for caring about a book your mother wrote years back.
